![]() ![]() ![]() TREVOR BELMONT DYING HAS NEVER FRIGHTENED ME. PERSONALITYBorn bitter (-): Trevor Belmont is, at least at first, a cynic of the highest order. His family was murdered, he wandered around by himself from early adolescence onward, and anyone who found out he was a Belmont immediately either kicked him to the curb or tried to kill him. He doesn't have a lot of respect for other people as a result, and will jump to the worst possible conclusions about their motivations until he's proven to be wrong. This is how he's kept himself alive for so long, but it's also what's kept him isolated. It takes him a long time to trust people, and an even longer time to like them. He covers his insecurity about this with quick wit and crude banter in an effort to scare people away from him. Anyone being nice to him is met initially with confusion and suspicion. Professional avoider (-): A lot of bad things have happened to Trevor in his life, and most of them he brushes off with humor when he can. It makes his companions like him more, he thinks, and keeps him from having to come to terms with how messed up he is because of his childhood and early adulthood. He avoids things by drinking, by cracking wise, and by outright denying that he remembers things like the age at which his entire family was wiped out (because who remembers that kind of thing, right?). What are you, five? (-): While more or less raising yourself has its advantages (beer for breakfast, beer for lunch, beer for ... you get the idea), Trevor has difficulty interacting with others in contexts other than people trying to kill him. He's witty enough to be good at convincing others not to kill him most of the time and kicking ass if he can't convince them, but he lacks the ability to empathize well. Even when he wants to offer his companion Sypha comfort, he finds verbal reassurance nearly impossible. He's better at physical acts of affection and he does improve his communication skills at a reasonable rate once he's forced to interact with his teammates regularly, but he certainly isn't as emotionally mature as a man of his age ought to be. Am I really sad? (-/+): Despite his inability to reassure people, he does actually sympathize with people, particularly those who finds themselves in similar situations to his own. He comes to the rescue of those who are at odds with the church, and he abhors sitting by idly and watching an innocent person get put through the wringer for something they had nothing to do with. He sees his own sadness reflected in other people, but can't always grasp what to do about it. Stupid family values (+): The Belmont family exists to protect the people of the world from vampires and monsters. That's what Trevor was raised to believe, and in his heart that's still true. He will protect people from the things that go bump in the night, whether those things are vampires, monsters, or members of the clergy. He discovers early on that the reason he'd been avoiding fulfilling his family's destiny was because he feared failure, and once he's able to overcome that fear he's a much more confident person. ABILITIES/POWERSReally fucking tough: Trevor Belmont falls into that 'annoying hard to kill protagonist' zone. Take him by the left leg and throw him down the stairs? He's going to be able to get back up. Use him like a human punching bag? He'll be more or less fine. In fact, he doesn't even really seem to be in that much pain. We're meant to assume this is due to his Belmont lineage, but it might just be that he's lost feeling in most parts of his body from permanent nerve damage. Who knows! Yeah, I'd hit that: Get your mind out of the gutter, mister or missus. Trevor is capable of great feats of accuracy not only with his family whip, but also with any other weapon that he can get his grubby little hands on. In fact, he could probably beat a demon to death with someone's wooden leg if push really came to shove -- he did use a stick to do that, once. He manages to at least tie with Alucard in a swordfight, so he's got both skill and accuracy on his side. Finally, he's proven to be a competent combatant even without his weapons of choice, holding his own in hand-to-hand fights. No pictures, please. Okay, maybe one picture. That thing is probably definitely going to make our insides our outsides: Being raised as a Belmont wasn't just grueling hours of training and then getting almost-murdered, you know! It also involved becoming intimately familiar with the family bestiary, so Trevor has a near-encyclopedic knowledge of many of the monsters and demons that might be encountered in Wallachia along with how to fight them. You're welcome. Oh good, pitchforks: It turns out that having the church excommunicate your family and then for the rest of your life having people try to slaughter you in an effort to stomp out the rest of your 'pathetic goat-worshiping lineage' has exactly one advantage, which is that you become extremely familiar with exactly when a crowd of people is going to turn against you in any given situation. He's also a lot less likely to get whipped up into a frenzy by the kind of bullshit that charletans peddle.
